New help guide system: Click the question mark icon to instantly display instructions for the section at hand Specify and store alternative names for places Supports family crests & author information Decision Tree Software How To Use CloudWith use of "cloud drives" this probably isn't as important, but for those who don't know how to use cloud drives, it would be an issue. There are many other great features but this review box is about filled up. So many different ways to add a source from whatever source type, like a URL, a media item, sync from FamilySearch, etc.The Smart Filters feature is also nice to pull different types of groups of people together based on a variety of different criteria.I love that media files can be kept stored with the application and not be linked to an outside drive. Well, and maybe some of the charts are a bit over the top and display nicely on screen, but are not able to be printed to paper.I love the sourcing part of the application. There are those times these are needed, instead of very graphically visualized several page document of a family group sheet for example. Cloud syncing works perfectly and makes researching on different devices easy. Incorporating FamilySearch into the mobile version is brilliant, but every time you invoke it, it slows your research down for the next 30 minutes (I have a huge tree with over 5,000 persons which gives FamilySearch a lot to process every single time it is launched).Overall, the application is well worth the price. Its built-in link to FamilySearch is incredible, but every time you launch that feature, it clears the updated family records it found during your last session and initiates a new search from scratch - which is helpful for research, but it really slows everything down especially on the mobile version called Family Tree 9. Even if you're just starting to keep your genealogy and history, this appliation is easy to learn, easy to use, and provides for the capability of recording not only names, events and dates, but history about family members, such as stories, eduation, photos, notes on events and photos, and more. I've used other Genealogy / Family History software in the past but they don't compare to the MacFamilyTree 9 application. After using four other genealogical programs in the past, I have finally settled on this one because even with its quirks, it is the best program I have come across to take my family's research and bring it to life.Excellent Genealogy / Family History application.I've been using MacFamilyTree software for 5 years and recently upgrated to version 9.1.2. The GUI has room for improvement, but I'm confident the developers have big plans for MacFamily Tree 9. Its charts and reports are beautiful and easy to read, tweak & share. ![]()
